Book Review: Her Defiant Heart by Monica Murphy

Damaged Heart Book 1 First, this book ends in a cliffhanger which irritates me since you must read the next book to find out what happens to the characters. Although, now I'm invested in the characters, I have to find out what happens to them. I will be buying the next books in the series. …

Book 2 of Imperfect Hearts Series   Book 1 No One But You  I read this series out of order. I read this novella first then book 1. Normally, when reading the second book, I'm left a bit confused or it takes me a chapter or two to understand the characters. I understood the characters …

Book Review: Memories of Us by Kennedy Mitchell

A heartbreaking second chance romance that pulls all the heart strings. This is one of the few books, I've cried while reading. It doesn't help that my grandparents had a farm growing up so many of my own memories intermingled with this story and characters. It is a must read! Brenton Graves left his grandfather's ranch right after high school for college. Both he and his brother, Caleb attended school in Dallas--six hours away from the ranch. It also placed both boys closer to their alcoholic father who uses people, women, and drug more than toilet paper. Oh, and the Graves family are oil tycoon rich from Brenton's great, great, great, great, great grandfather. The ranch has been in their family for generations. Too bad Brenton doesn't remember much from his teen years through to his early twenties. Until he woke up in a rehab center with his grandfather looking over him.

Book Review: Make You Mine by Tia Louise

Grayson Cole has always been treated like he wasn't worthy. An orphan that his uncle raised in a small town mechanic shop. His best friend Danny Harris took him in. The two of them were inseparable. Danny, the golden boy of the town with the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks. His …

Book Review: Small Town Heart by Andrea Johnston

I have to begin with how much I love every Andrea Johnston novel. I don't I've read a mediocre novel from her. I love everyone of them. I will admit this is not one of my favorites (Tequila and Tailgates will always be the top--Ashton is wickedly hilarious. If you haven't read it--Do it!). I love how she intertwines the characters from her previous series with this one. Although, if you haven't read the series, you can still fully understand these characters since they were minor characters in the series. The reader didn't get a lot about Beth during her time at Country Road--although we do know who her hook-up is and why he wanted a long term relationship with her and not Beth. But Mercy tells us her version later in the book too. No one is in the dark about her previous life.  Mercy Elizabeth Warner is still trying to find her place in this world after working for Taylor at Country Road--a bar in Lexington, Kentucky. Beth as she went by in Lexington decided it was time for a change. It had nothing to do with the fact that her casual hook up decided he wanted a long term relationship--with someone else. She heads back to Texas to visit her momma for two weeks before heading for the bright lights of Austin. She grew up in a small town and hates everything about it. She loves everything about big city life. Until her car breaks down a few miles from a small town over two hours from Austin, luck is on her side. Sorda of

Book Review: ab·so·lu·tion by Ava Harrison

I kind of had a feeling that this was part of a series or at least a spin-off of Eve and Preston's story. The beginning chapter made allusions to their story without actually divulging details about their rough patch. I do appreciate the author's restraint in not telling too much about the hardships that Eve and Preston had to endure to get their happy ending. But I would have liked to know that there was a book that had Eve and Preston's story before reading Jace and Sydney's in ab-so-lu-tion. I would have still read this novel because I love Jace's dark, broody and slightly depressed side. Sydney's happy go-lucky personality. The character have the perfect balance of flaws. Sydney knows that she never dates men who are available to her.

Sydney has a type--unavailable men. The last loser was literally unavailable--he's married. Of course, she didn't know that until later which is why she broke up with him. Then there was Richard, her boss--the man who meant more to her than he should have. He is also the man who took a chance and hired her. Oh and the married ex, William is still calling her trying to win her back. She only wants to focus on her best friend, Eve making Eve's wedding the best wedding possible. But there is a dark cloud hanging over the wedding--his name is Jace Montgomery, Eve's future brother-in-law and best man.

Jace Montgomery is a widower with two children. His wife was tragically taken from him a little over a year ago. He still hasn't properly grieved her death.
